The milk bank staff is friendly, flexible, and growing! Join us in welcoming a new staff member as well as an experienced one who’s taken on a new role. (Mimi in the photo to the left.)
Lara Ullman is our new Office Manager and Accounting Assistant. Lara has played a “swing” role for some time, which means she’s well-versed in how the milk bank works. Following in the footsteps of her mom, Melanie, she started as a volunteer in 2010. She filled in as Office Manager during Danielle’s maternity leave last summer, worked in the lab during Lynn’s maternity leave in the fall, and has also taken orders for Cynthia and handled shipping for Rachel during their vacations. With a master’s degree in library science, Lara worked in the archival field for several years, and continues to maintain a private archival consulting business in addition to her milk bank work.
Mimi Barress joined us recently as Staff Assistant, and has quickly made herself indispensable labeling bottles and organizing data for our new donor management system. Mimi is a recent graduate of the Cambridge School of Weston; as her senior capstone project she spent months assisting the well-known midwife Nancy Wainer in her homebirth practice, and continued to do so after graduation. We are pleased to play a role in helping Mimi explore career paths in the perinatal field.
Welcome to your new roles, Lara and Mimi! And by the way—those aren’t their children in the photos, but in our family-friendly office, staff members often take turns holding their co-workers’ babies.
