Our highly trained lab technicians are experts at processing and pasteurizing milk to meet the high safety standards of the Human Milk Banking Association of North America. When you walk into Mothers’ Milk Bank Northeast, you’ll see them through the lab window hard at work, but you probably won’t get to talk with them, so here are some fun facts about Lynn, Juliane, and Trish.
Lynn
Identification: Blonde, labeled as lab manager
Duration of employment: 4 years
Special skills: Double pouring; being the lab manager
Lab stats: Pouring and capping 50 bottles in under 10 minutes
Favorite thing to listen to in the lab: Thai love songs on YouTube
Hobbies: Working out, cooking, watching horror movies, and shopping for deals
Fun fact: Her father works in a facility that manufactures bovine milk. Processing milk runs in the family!
Other activities: Is also a mom! (Val was our “office baby” for many months).
Juliane
Identification: Shortest in the lab
Duration of employment: Less than a year
Special skills: Logging milk (and being insanely fast at it)
Lab stats: Processing 300 bottles in under 2 hours
Favorite thing to listen to in the lab: Taylor Swift station on Pandora
Hobbies: Reading, dancing, and working out
Fun fact: Lived in Brazil for her entire childhood, then moved to the USA
Other activities: Also works a second job!
Trish
Identification: Tallest by a long shot
Duration of employment: Less than a year
Special skills: Wingspan enabling her to reach the far corners of freezers and tables; organizing everything she can get her hands on
Lab stats: Learned double-pouring from the best
Favorite thing to listen to in the lab: Hipster BBQ on Pandora (best station ever), or science fiction/mystery/horror podcasts
Hobbies: Reading, drawing, kayaking, coffee tasting, and finding interesting and creative things to do on the weekends.
Fun fact: She studied Coastal and Marine Science in college and used to work on fisheries research vessels in the Gulf of Mexico. She loves to talk about fish and boats.
Other activities: She is working on a master’s degree in Bioinformatics!
