Call Your Connecticut Legislators Now: Medicaid Donor Milk Bill

Public hearing on donor milk for Connecticut babies

If you live in Connecticut, it’s time to call your state representatives to ask them to vote in favor of SB 7165, An Act Concerning Medicaid Coverage for Donor Breast Milk.

The bill passed out of the Human Services Committee with flying colors, with all members voting in favor of the bill (one member absent). You can read Executive Director Naomi Bar-Yam’s account of the committee hearing on our blog. Be sure to check out all the compelling written testimony in support of the bill on the Connecticut General Assembly website.

After the bill left committee, it was filed with Legislative Commissioner’s Office, referred to Office of Legislative Research and Office of Fiscal Analysis, and assigned House Calendar Number 275 and File Number 423.

The next step is a vote in the House, so please call your representatives now! We don’t know the date of the vote, but you can call anytime, so don’t delay! Assuming it passes in the House, the next stop will be the Senate.
