“There is no better excess in the world than the excess of gratitude.” – Jean de La Bruyère
Finding gratitude . . .
Is it me or is the world moving faster than ever? Wait, I know the answer to this one – it’s not me . . .
At times like these, when there is so much need and not enough resources, I turn toward areas where I can make a difference. I turn to you. I turn to you because together we can make sure that every baby who needs donor milk to safely nourish them has access to it.
And who are you? The list is long, thank goodness . . .
You are . . .
Our generous, life-giving milk donors. Without you, none of this would be possible.
Our dedicated staff, who bring all of their talents and dedication to this mission.
Our volunteer board of directors and committee members, who give generously of their time and resources, ensuring our milk bank is strong today – and tomorrow.
Our medical partners who draw on their clinical expertise and compassion to care for infants and families. The same people who raise awareness of donor milk and its importance – sending us milk recipients and donors alike.
Our financial donors who understand that it takes extensive resources to keep safe, life-saving milk flowing to all the newborns relying on us.
Our selfless volunteers who show up to share both their skills and their time in support of our operations and families.
Our babies, all of whom remind me that there is so much good in the world. All of whom remind me that there is endless possibility and promise. These little humans need us to stay focused, stay positive, and stay committed to giving them the bright futures they so deserve. Donor milk is not the whole solution, not by a long shot, but it can offer a nourishing and protective start down a healthy path. And after that, well . . . anything is possible after that.
Thank you . . .
Thank you for giving me so much to be grateful for. Thank you for being a force for good, a shining example of what this world needs – compassion and generosity.
Every milk donor is a hero, but not every hero is a milk donor . . .
