Our Share the Love Brunch: making a difference for babies in need . . .
We’re still smiling following the success of our Share the Love Brunch in support of the milk bank and Boston Medical Center’s (BMC) Curbside Care Postpartum Mobile Unit.
Bringing maternal and child health services directly to underserved populations, this innovative unit helps to ensure that every family has access to the care they deserve. Last year, we proudly announced our partnership with the program in an effort to increase access to donor milk, and this year’s event built on that important work.
Celebrating generosity, community, and carbs!
This event would not have been possible without the help of our friends from the Wellesley Mothers Forum. Their efforts not only made this gathering a reality but an overwhelming success. Thanks to them, we were able to raise much-needed awareness about the life-saving importance of donor milk. And their work didn’t stop there. This incredible group of women also collected and donated essential items – from winter coats to nursing supplies – that will directly benefit families served by BMC’s Curbside Care Unit.
A beautiful example of community coming together for a common cause, a heartfelt thank you goes to Kate LaVerde for graciously hosting this brunch and making everyone feel so welcome. We were also honored to have Renee Ferraro, representative of the Curbside Care program and milk bank board member, join us to share more about the work BMC is doing on the ground. Speaking of which, our very own Deb Youngblood (CEO) also made an appearance. Presenting on the vital importance of the milk bank’s mission, leading an open conversation, and answering questions, Deb’s insight helped bring this impactful event to life.
And let’s not forget the delicious sweet treats provided by Petite Sakura! Known as “a local business with global roots,” Petite Sakura’s owner, Kyoko, originally from Japan, has taken Boston by storm with her unique cookies and meringues. With a newly opened location in Boston’s beautiful South End, her signature dessert board made was almost too pretty to eat – almost!
