Returning to Falmouth
Last year, Mothers’ Milk Bank Northeast participated in the Falmouth Road Race for the very first time. This summer, we’re proud to return with another incredible team of runners raising funds in support of families in need.
Every bottle of donor milk represents compassion, generosity, and hope. Before donor milk reaches a baby, it must be carefully screened, pasteurized, tested, stored, and distributed according to the highest safety standards. Every step is essential, and every step carries real cost.
As a nonprofit, we’re driven by mission, not margin. As demand for donor milk continues to grow, so does the need for community support. That’s why opportunities like the Falmouth Road Race matter so much. Every mile helps expand access to safe donor human milk for vulnerable babies throughout the region.
Today, we’re excited to introduce the first members of this year’s team and share why this mission means so much to them.

Why I run – in Hannah’s words:
During my own breastfeeding journey, I donated nearly 1,000 ounces of milk to the milk bank. Because I live close to its headquarters, I was able to donate in person and see firsthand the care and expertise required to make donor milk safe and available to babies who need it most.
I was fortunate that breastfeeding came easily for my daughter and me, but I know that isn’t every family’s experience. Supporting access to donor milk is one way we can help give more babies the healthiest possible start.
By joining the Falmouth team, I hope to help raise funds so more families can access donor milk when they need it most.
Update: Since joining the team, our family has received some exciting news—I’m expecting! While I won’t be able to run the race this year, my husband, Conor, will be taking my place. We’re so proud to support this mission.

Neonatologist, researcher, and longtime milk bank medical advisory committee member
Why I run – in Mandy’s words:
This is my second time running the Falmouth Road Race in support of Mothers’ Milk Bank Northeast. In my work as a neonatologist at Brigham & Women’s Hospital, I care for tiny patients who rely on pasteurized donor milk every day. As a human milk researcher, I know donor milk is the next best option when a mother’s own milk isn’t available or is in short supply.
I’ve also served on the milk bank’s Advisory Board for more than a decade and continue to be inspired by the dedication of this team. Their commitment to babies and families is extraordinary.
I’m grateful for the opportunity to run and fundraise in support of this mission. Every donation helps ensure vulnerable infants continue to have access to safe donor milk when they need it most.

Why I run – in Stuart’s words:
When my daughter Rachel joined the milk bank, I quickly learned more about the incredible work being done to support fragile babies in NICUs across the Northeast. Seeing her passion for the mission and learning more about the care and expertise behind every bottle of donor milk made me want to get involved. It showed me how many families depend on donor milk during some of life’s most vulnerable moments.
I’m honored to help raise funds and awareness so more babies can receive the support they deserve.

Why I run – in Zack’s words:
I’m running the Falmouth Road Race this August to support Mothers’ Milk Bank Northeast after seeing firsthand how meaningful donor milk can be for families.
My wife and I welcomed our son nearly four weeks early last December. While breastfeeding was getting established, we were given the option to use donor milk from the milk bank. Having access to that support during those first weeks made a huge difference for our family and helped give our son the nutrition he needed to grow and thrive.
Now, I’m excited to give back by raising funds and awareness for an organization that supported our family during a vulnerable time. I hope others will consider supporting this important work too.
