At Mothers’ Milk Bank Northeast, our work is driven by science and fueled by generosity. As one of the largest accredited nonprofit milk banks in the country, we provide safe, pasteurized donor human milk to medically fragile and premature infants—milk that supports their growth and, in many cases, saves lives.

We invite you to explore our current giving opportunities or reach out with your own ideas. Your gift to Mothers’ Milk Bank Northeast is a gift to the thousands of families we serve every year.

Greatest Need

We remain steadfast in our mission to provide equitable access to safe, lifesaving, pasteurized donor human milk.

Unrestricted support helps us meet our evolving needs as we serve nearly 20,000 families throughout the northeast annually.

The Compassion Fund

For babies at home who need Pasteurized Donor Human Milk, the milk bank offers the Compassion Fund – a fund meant to remove barriers for families with financial and medical needs. This fund supports the use of donor milk in a variety of circumstances, including:

  • Short-term use: as a bridge to successful breastfeeding.
  • Long-term use: for babies with severe medical needs such as organ transplantation.
  • Special Circumstances: for situations where breastfeeding is not possible due to maternal loss or cancer treatment.

Innovation and Optimization

Capital gifts enable Mothers’ Milk Bank Northeast to expand, innovate, and optimize our facilities, equipment, and programs – all in service of medically fragile infants and their families.

Evidence-based innovations and efficiency improvements enable us to meet growing demand for donor milk. The Insoft Challenge is one way that supporters can invest in the milk bank’s capacity.

Programs

Through philanthropy, we’re able to grow special programs like our Bereaved Family initiative, which offers parents a way to honor their child. When a baby is lost, families can feel invisible — this program ensures their child’s name is remembered and carried forward with purpose.

This fund also supports our education initiatives with prenatal, birth, and lactation health workers, promoting evidence-based use of donor milk. We also engage directly with new and expectant parents to build understanding of human milk and infant nutrition.
