Give us one good reason . . .
Here at Mothers’ Milk Bank Northeast, we’re driven by the belief that every baby deserves the best possible start in life. That’s why we’re here for every baby—from the healthy, full-term infant receiving donor milk while mom is building her milk supply, to the medically fragile baby fighting for their future in the NICU.
Every milk donor, recipient, and friend of the milk bank, has a story that’s entirely their own. And more often than not, it’s these stories that inspire them to “give back,” “pay it forward,” and “honor a precious life.” Always eager to connect with our incredible milk bank family, we asked some of our financial donors to share the “why” behind their generosity. The results of this project, which we’ve affectionately dubbed “One Good Reason”? Have a read for yourself . . .
Why I give – our milk donor and recipient heroes share their why . . .
“I used the milk bank in the first weeks of my daughter’s life. At the time, I was waiting for my own milk to come in. It was then that I told my daughter we’d find a way to repay this gift. We’re so happy to have this opportunity to do so now.” ~ Molly S., Monthly Miracle Maker and donor milk recipient
“I worked hard to collect the milk I donated, and I want to make sure that it makes its way to the babies that need it most. Which means that I need people to process it; people to deliver it; and people to raise awareness about it so that other women will donate milk, too. All that takes a lot of resources! I donate money to make sure that my initial time investment has the greatest impact it can.” ~ Caryn D. OLY, milk donor and financial supporter
“Over the years, I’ve donated both milk and money to Mothers’ Milk Bank Northeast. All babies deserve to be fed, loved, and cared for. And I’m so grateful for the opportunity to help other families in a way that feels inclusive, meaningful and kind.” ~ Anna B., milk donor and financial supporter
And they’re in great company . . .
“As a pediatrician and neonatologist, my life’s work has been devoted to protecting and improving the lives of fragile newborns. Often the only safe source of nutrition for a baby who desperately needs to grow, donor milk is a vital medical resource. And demand for this resource is currently at its highest level. Enabling more babies to survive and thrive, this region and the families within it deserve a first-class facility that can meet said demand. For this reason, my wife and I remain dedicated to ensuring safe, lifesaving donor milk from a nonprofit milk bank like Mothers’ Milk Bank Northeast is readily available.” ~ Dr. Insoft, M.D.
“Premature babies are extremely vulnerable. They need human milk to help protect them. In a hospital setting we can only rely on donor milk from a milk bank that ensures safety standards. Milk that comes from a milk bank such as Mothers’ Milk Bank Northeast. This is what makes supporting an accredited non-profit milk bank like theirs so powerful. It’s here that the gift of milk, money, and time can save lives.” ~ Renee F., hospital-based lactation consultant.
Every dollar matters because every baby matters . . .
