ACTION ALERT MAINE: Public Hearing February 11 on MaineCare Coverage of Donor Milk

On Thursday, February 11 there will be a public hearing on MaineCare donor milk coverage. If you are a Maine resident who believes that all babies deserve access to medically necessary lifesaving donor milk, we urge you to attend this hearing and make your voice heard. We also encourage you to submit written testimony in advance of the hearing. All hearings are now conducted via Zoom, which enables you to participate without traveling to Augusta.

One year ago, a similar bill, LD 1938, passed out of committee but because of the pandemic never made it to a full vote in the legislature. Like many other bills, that bill died at the end of the legislative session. Fortunately, Representative Margaret Craven of Lewiston has introduced a new bill with the same language, LD85, An Act Concerning MaineCare Coverage for Donor Breast Milk.
