Our nonprofit milk bank’s work is only made possible by the generosity of people who share our belief that babies who need donor milk should receive it. People who understand that our littlest community members need everyone to pitch in and invest in their health and wellbeing. People who understand the science and the heart behind ensuring that medically fragile babies receive the safest possible nutrition source, human milk. Thank you for not only understanding but supporting the milk bank.
Our milk bank is still in the early stages of building a culture of philanthropy. We are working hard to grow our fundraising efforts in order to meet the rising demand for donor milk. And grow we did!
We couldn’t do it without you . . .
We achieved our match gift by the Aria Covey Foundation, longtime supporters of ours. We more than tripled our number of first-time donors. That’s a big one so thanks to all the folks who decided this year, for the first time, to make our milk bank one of your charities. And we are so appreciative of our financial donors who give year after year. We count on you to come through each time, and you didn’t let us down. Overall, we increased our philanthropic donations by over 35% which allows us to better serve the babies who need us most.
In addition to our individual donors, we received generous operating support from two new foundations. We also received gifts of much needed equipment and supplies from Yale Appliance, ProHealth Physicians, Reliable Maternity, and Medela, and expanded our corporate partnership program with companies like Salesforce, Sarah Wells Bags, BeauGen, and ConceiveAbilities.
We were championed by marathoner and pediatric nurse Maureen Cummings, who raised money and awareness by racing in the 2022 Boston Marathon on our behalf. And look out for her in 2023 because she will be racing for team preemie again. Welcome to the family – all of you.
That thing we do . . .
Collectively your support enables us to:
- Provide subsidized donor milk for lower resourced families whose babies medically require it
- Educate the community about donor milk which encourages donation and helps recipient families feel confident in both its usage should their physician prescribe it
- Keep our milk flowing to the over 100 hospitals, primarily NICU’s, who rely on us to care for their tiny patients
- Work with generous moms who are able and willing to donate milk, ensuring a safe and seamless process
